7,807 different items of feedback and a heated debate

The brief

Buzz Channel was asked by a local board to assist with a complex and controversial consultation project around the future use of a popular community reserve.

The process

The project attracted a great deal of community interest with 7,807 pieces of feedback received via five different feedback channels – including online and hardcopy feedback forms, emails and letters.

Specifically we took care of:

  • manually inputting hard copy responses
  • collating all data into one source for analysis
  • analysing the preferences for each option and coding all the comments into key themes
  • conducting multiple data checks to ensure accuracy and quality
  • presenting results to the client in a concise, direct report that clearly 
    articulated community views

While the local board developed the feedback form and managed the consultation process, Buzz Channel was engaged to process, analyse and report on the submissions.

The results

What was a large and complex process was made simple. With a full array of data representing the views of a broad spectrum of the community presented in a simple and easily understood way, the local board felt confident in their ability to make some tough decisions. They were able to receive the information in an easily digestible format, advise all stakeholders about the consultation process, and most importantly, have confidence that they accurately understood the community’s views and could report back what they had heard.
